Annual Dinner

Guest Speaker: Chris McConville

Reflections on Twenty Years of Public History

Chris McConville is well known to many of us as the first convenor, together with Graeme Davison, of the Masters in Public History at Monash University in 1988.  An early practitioner of Public History, Chris combined his work as a professional historian with his academic positions at the University of Melbourne, Victoria University and Monash. He was amongst the first historians to bring their expertise to the field of heritage assessment in Victoria. Now a lecturer at the University of the Sunshine Coast, Chris’ research interests are eclectic and include cultural landscapes and urban history, crime and the city, gambling and sports history.
