Introduction

Membership of the Professional Historians Association (Vic) Inc. requires academic qualifications as an historian and, depending on category of membership sought, professional experience through being commissioned or employed to undertake historical work.

Membership Categories

Membership of the Professional Historians Association (Vic) Inc. is available to individuals in four categories:

Professional Historian

Professional Historian (Associate)

Graduate Historian

National Standard for Accreditation

In September 2000, members of the Professional Historians Association (Vic) Inc voted to adopt the National Standard for the Accreditation of Professional Historians in Australia, developed by the Australian Council of Professional Historians Associations (ACPHA). Consequently, members of the PHA now benefit from a standard accreditation criterion that is recognised by all professional historians' associations across Australia.

Applying for Membership

To apply for membership click below to download the application form in the format of your choice.

Subscriptions run from 1 July to 30 June.  As a member, you can also subscribe to the PHA (Vic) Employment Service for an additional $45 per year.
